Our wines come from a variety of South Africa's top award winning boutique wineries who share in our passion for exquisite wines.
Nico van der Merwe - Stellenbosch
Nico van der Merwe has already established himself as one of South Africa's best winemakers.
This outspoken winemaker believes that only quality wine survives in a wine industry contending with difficult conditions like 'global gluts' and a strong rand.
The result - a range of top quality wines, produced under his own label.
His mission is to reduce elevated alcohol level in South African Wines, quite how to do this he admits he is not yet sure, but one thing we can bank on is on him finding a way.

Mont Rochelle is a stunning boutique winery and vineyard situated just under an hour’s drive from Cape Town in the town of Franschhoek on the slopes of the Klein Dassenberg Mountain. The property was purchased by Sir Richard Branson in 2014 and is now part of the exclusive Virgin Limited Edition collection. The property comprises of the vineyards, winery and 2 restaurants as well as a 26 bedroom hotel that is very well equipped to pamper guests who visit.
The wine has consistently been produced on the site since the 1700’s, and the extensive vineyards are situated between 250m and 400m above sea level exposing the grapes to a range of microclimates and soil types. Recent soil mapping has identified no less than 7 different soil types on the property allowing for more complexity in our wines. The soils are mainly alluvial clay towards the bottom of the property and decomposed granite for the blocks heading up onto the Klein Dassenberg Mountain. Mediterranean-like conditions found in Franschhoek means dry summers and higher winter rainfalls of 1000mm, the valley also experiences the South-Easter (Cape Doctor) which helps bring in the cooler air allowing for a longer ripening period and ultimately more phenolic ripeness in our fruit.
The wine cellar at Mont Rochelle is over 160 years old and was previously used as a fruit packing shed for the early settlers. Since being converted to a traditional wine cellar Mont Rochelle can now process close to 110 tons of grapes in a season, these smaller volumes afford more concentration on quality rather than quantity. Dustin Osborne is the accomplished winemaker at Mont Rochelle and draws on the experience gained at Mont Rochelle over the past 9 years and prominent cellars in the Cape Winelands and abroad, to nurture the wines into the bottle. He has fast gained a passion for producing top quality Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon from Mont Rochelle’s vineyards. Dustin’s passion and philosophy lie with translating Mont Rochelle’s terroir into the bottle with minimal intervention through careful planning from the vineyard into the winery.

Kloovenburg Vineyards - Swartland Wine Route - Riebeeck kasteel
"In 1956 Kloovenburg was bought by my two grandfathers, Du Toit and de Kock. Grandfather du Toit was a sheep farmer from the Karoo nearby Petrusville and my grandfather de Kock was a businessman from Malmesbury and also acted as Mayor for a couple of years.
In 1957 my parents Piet "Spiere" and Barbara du Toit moved to Kloovenburg and started to farm. Which was a big challenge to both of them, as my father was a graduate from the University of Stellenbosch with a B.Comm degree, and my mother a teacher, so neither knew much about farming vineyards.
I matriculated in Swartland High School, did my two years service in the army and another two years studying at Stellenbosch University before joining my father on the farm in 1987. We farmed together for two years, before he retired.
In 1988 I got married to my wife, Annalene, who shares the same philosophy which is to start small, work really hard and success will follow.
We are blessed with four boys, eldest Pieter-Steph, Johan, Anton and Daniël all who have helped me alot in the cellar with Daniël always having been Annalene's olive taster, if he likes it everybody will love it. The children had always been involved in every aspect of Kloovenburg and that is how and why the brand Eight Feet was born."

At De Meye, you won't find much fuss, nor glitter. We leave the wine industry's sparkling image to what it is – an image alone. We believe that elegance lies in simplicity, and beauty in realness. We aim to make great wine and fantastic food, as naturally as possible. We love to connect people, to unwind and recharge mind and body. We are in the business of wine and hospitality, as much as we are in the business of keeping it real, since 1665.

Bellpost - Between Vredendal and Lutzville
Bellpost Cellar is situated between Vredendal and Lutzville on the West Coast. 2005 is the maiden vintage of the cellar. The vineyards, cellar and wine business are run by the Thiart family. Father Lollies and brother Nico are responsible for the vineyards, brother Koos for the winemaking and rugby playing brother Danie started doing the marketing, when he was with the Blue Bulls.
The vineyards are planted on soils ranging from loam in the river bed to red Karoo on the outskirts. The different cultivars are planted on the sites best suited according to slope and soil types. All the vineyards are trellised to accommodate the canopies during the growing season.
Harvest time is from February till April. Grapes are harvested by hand in lug boxes and transported in it to the cellar.
The white grapes are whole bunch pressed. The Chardonnay ferments in a stainless steel tank. The Chardonnay and Viognier for the white blend, C’est la Vie, is fermented in barrels and the Nouvelle for the blend is tank fermented. The fermentation temperature is kept between 15 and 17oC. After fermentation the white wines are protein- and cold stabilized prior to bottling.
The red grapes are de-stalked into solid plastic bins that suite as open fermenters. During fermentation the cap is punched down every 3 hours till dry fermented. Extended skin contact is given before pressing. The wine matures for 12 months in 225 litre French- and Hungarian oak.
The range of wines consist of Chardonnay, C’est La Vie, Merlot, Ruby Cabernet and Shiraz.
